This video features five individuals whose lives were positively impacted indirectly by the late Fred Meijer, the well known West Michigan man who started up Meijer stores among many other noted accomplishments. In this video, it was creative in the beginning using the bubble map to introduce the five individuals and briefly telling their story on how he impacted their lives. I feel the video was at appropriate length, the interviews were brief but good. The audio and time were of good quality; it was short but descriptive and the story was easy to follow. The beginning of the video was a creative way to introduce the story. Here is a link to the video:

This video comes out of the Palm Beach, FL. region where a Target worker was exhausted from working an all-night shift and drove into a canal. With the sheriff telling the reporter how he got the call from her as her car was sinking, it was compelling to hear him tell the story and the footage they got of the car was astounding as most of it had already sunk into the canal. The video in my opinion was very well done and the way the story is told in the video is amazing – it’s amazing how she survived.

This is a video that was done by a 16 year old girl from Grand Rapids Michigan who lost her mother to suicide. The way she did the video was very creative and touching. She tells her story with her words written on pieces of paper as the song, “If I Die Young” by The Band Perry plays in the background. The video is very compelling and it really speaks to viewers. It was very well done.

This video comes from WZZM13.com – a woman was arrested for DUI and was naked when she was arrested. She was clocked at 128 mph. After watching the video, I think it did a good job telling the bizarre story. It had decent footage of the arrest and the officer interviewed in the video gave a good explanation of the incident. There was a proper amount of time between the footage of the incident and an explanation of the incident. Here is a link to the video:

I came across this video on CNN.com, and I knew I had to share it because it is a story that portrays such an odd discovery: A giant lego man washed up on the beach. A lot of odd, quirky items wash up on the beach daily…but a giant lego dude? Wow. the stuff we throw in our waters. As for the video itself, the length was decent, but at the end, it just showed footage from different angles of the lego man, which I thought was a little boring and there should have been more conversation. The man who discovered it was interviewed and gave a good description. There was good footage, but the ending was dull in my opinion.

This is a slide show of pictures with audio of some of the odd, crazy things students do at Ferris State University. It mostly showcases the activity of “planking,” which is a common, odd trend taking place at universities across America. This was my first time using iMovie, a program on a Mac similar to Windows Movie Maker. Here is my finished piece:
In the video from CNN featuring missing baby Lisa’s mom admitting she was drunk when her her daughter went missing, the video had a good time of length of the interview with Baby Lisa’s parents. Also, the video of the search and the photos of Baby Lisa draw in viewers to the case. The interview with the mother is also interesting. When it comes to missing child cases, an interview with the people involved, as well as photos of the missing person(s) and additional video of the case makes the story more interesting and easier to follow.

I reviewed CM Life’s current Sportsline video this week. Overall, I found that the video certainly offered good coverage of the sports games. As for the reporting, I thought it was a bit too staged and awkward. I did think the timing of each segment was fair in length and the interview with the coach for the soccer segment was a good touch to the video. However, I do believe that the reporters could have done a better job on reporting, I felt it was too scripted.
Here is the video:
Alyssa Girardi from The State News at Michigan State University posted a video on The State News website telling a story of MSU students who attended a law fair. Many different law schools were featured at the fair. The video was posted on September 20.

The video itself is 1 minute and 20 seconds long. It’s a good length of time for the video because it was easy to follow and the individuals Girardi talked to were easy to listen to as they explained the law fair was about. The video also contained footage of a student elaborating on why he found the law fair to be beneficial to him – it’s nice to see why the law fair was beneficial to someone rather than just talking about it from an informational point. It was a good audio and visual summary of the story.
